It’s important to check your freezer.
Perdue Foods is initiating a recall of more than 167,000 pounds of frozen chicken nuggets and tenders following reports of metal wire contamination in some of these products. The recall specifically affects three items: Perdue Breaded Chicken Tenders, Butcher Box Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets, and Perdue Simply Smart Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) and Perdue have identified that the contamination occurred due to thin metal wire entering the products as a result of a manufacturing flaw. Although there have been no reports of injuries or adverse health effects, the recall is being carried out as a safety precaution.
Consumers can recognize the affected products by their specific product codes, the “best if used by” date of March 23, 2025, and the establishment number “P-33944” printed on the packaging. These items were sold across various retailers in the United States.
Recalls due to foreign object contamination, such as metal fragments, are relatively common. A similar situation occurred recently when Tyson Foods recalled chicken nuggets due to metal contamination. Such recalls are essential for ensuring food safety and preventing potential risks to consumers.
